The IELTS certification is only valid for two years. People who have received their scores have to lodge their applications within two years. Once the IELTS expires, it is not anymore accepted. The candidate will have to book again for an examination that will surely cost time and money. Thus, it is important for any candidates to have a timeline of their applications so as not to waste the validity of their scores.

Since IELTS is a requirement for lodging applications, any test candidate should be well prepared in taking the examination. There are some people who has taken the IELTS without any reviews, yet they have failed to meet the score requirements. One should never be too complacent with the IELTS test. Reviewing is a must. There are a number of good tips in preparing for the IELTS examination.

For starters, the candidate should plan ahead on how much time to allot for reviews. There are candidates who spend about three to six months in preparing for the review. This is enough time to learn the basics of the skills in the examination to advanced strategies in responding to questions for the examination. This amount of time is also enough for the candidate to take practice exams to see the progress in the reviews.

Further, any candidates for the IELTS should practice building vocabulary. It is difficult to understand reading and listening passages when a word seems to be very unfamiliar. Also, candidates seem to have trouble expressing their ideas in the speaking and writing sections. With good vocabulary, candidates find it easier to comprehend passages and respond to questions and tasks.

Using the English language in every opportunity should be practiced. In the best IELTS review center, candidates are given different pair or group activities to make them comfortable in using English. Also, this kind of activity will promote better interaction and shared learning of skills for the IELTS. An IELTS review center in Baguio even have fun and challenging speaking games to their students for them to be comfortable in speaking the English language. The activity does not only improve their speaking skills but also their confidence in speaking using English.

With the right amount of preparation and exposure to the English language, any candidate is sure to reach their target scores. However, they should always be reminded that the validity of their certificates is only good for a couple of years; hence, they have to work on their applications as soon as possible.

  2. I work with many 'highly skilled' migrants. Doctors in fact. And I can assure you that the requirement for an English language test is entirely necessary. I think you'll find you have to sit the IELTS test if applying to work in the UK or US as well.
