Your guide before taking an IELTS Speaking Test

Failing to reach your required band score for the IELTS speaking test can be very disappointing. Some gets sad about it while others take it as a challenge to do better in the retaking the IELTS test. However, it is still best for any candidate to reach their target scores in just one sitting to save not only time but money as well. A good IELTS review in an IELTS review center can simply be an answer to perfecting your skills for the IELTS.

In an IELTS review, coaches in IELTS review center do not just immediately expose students to an IELTS speaking simulation with giving the right preparation. If you are planning to take the examination, here is a guide for you in getting a good score for the IELTS speaking test.

  • Plan your review. Developing your skills in speaking does not happen overnight. You have to put time and effort on it. Hence, the first you have to do is create a plan to when to start reviewing. The longer time means the more learning you get to improve your skills. As a suggestion, give yourself about 2-3 months to prepare for the examination. If you are not really confident with your English skills, then try reviewing for six months.

  • Create a schedule for your review. Once you are enrolled in an IELTS review center, your schedule for the classes has already been made for you. However, do not just rely with the review in the center. You have to come up a schedule of your own for your self-review. A lot at least an hour daily to review what you learned in class. Use this time as well to do practice tests at home.

  • Attend lectures in the review center as much as possible. During the speaking lecture in review centers, candidates are taught the different question types and techniques on how to create responses for these. It is important to attend to these lectures as to know how to understand and handle a particular speaking item. Further, pronunciation practices and grammar lessons are even a part of these lectures as a review which is needed in the IELTS speaking test.

  • Be present in speaking practices. Speaking practices are the opportunities to test what you have learned in the lectures. In speaking practices, there are activities that encourage students to use their English skills. Individual and group activities are done in class to help students become more confident and comfortable in using the English language with other people.

  • Watch video tutorials on IELTS speaking. In websites like Youtube, there are videos uploaded that show how the IELTS test is done. Aside from the fact that you can get tips on how to answer questions, you will also get the chance to see how candidates sit and behave in front of their interviewer – how to handle nervousness during the test.
The speaking test can be very stressful. The things listed above is a simple guide towards a successful preparation for the exam through an IELTS review in an IELTS review center. What every candidate should remember is to be confident in speaking and believe that getting a good score in their speaking test is possible.
